Lectorum opened its doors 50 years ago as a trade bookstore, catering to the
needs of the general public and college students in the New York Metropolitan
area. Lectorum soon became a nation-wide distribution center serving public schools,
public libraries, universities, and bookstores. Since then, Lectorum Publication
has grown to become the largest Spanish language book distributor in the country
with over 25,000 titles from more than 500 domestic and foreign publishers.
Over the years, Lectorum has earned an outstanding reputation as a service-oriented
organization with a strong commitment to meeting the needs of its customers.
Lectorum's vast network of resources allows for special ordering services through
which many customers have obtained materials they were unable to find elsewhere.
Lectorum's
main goal has always been to offer schools and libraries the best selection of
children's books in Spanish, including works originally written in Spanish as
well as translations from other languages. All books are carefully reviewed by
Lectorum's qualified staff to ensure that they meet the high standards of educators
and librarians.
Lectorum also boasts the largest and most diverse selection of Spanish language
books for adults, ranging from the most current and popular titles to perennial
classics.
In addition to schools and libraries, Lectorum distributes to the trade and
to various specialized markets. Several catalogs are produced each year which
cater to these different markets.
Lectorum is also the publisher of many fine
children's books in Spanish. This diverse collection of publications includes
the Spanish language editions of Dr. Seuss and the Magic Tree House as well as
original works in Spanish such as Cuando los grandes eran pequeños, the
acclaimed series about Latin American poets when they were children, and our
latest bilingual book Braids/Trencitas. |
